Detailed plans submitted for new Inverness Royal Academy

Detailed plans for the construction of a £34 million replacement for Inverness Royal Academy have been lodged by The Highland Council’s Education Culture and Sport Service.

 

The plans are available to view on the Council’s e-planning website http://wam.www.highland.gov.uk/wam under reference number 13/04414/FUL and can also be viewed at Planning and Building Standards Office, Kintail House, Beechwood Business Park, Inverness.

The deadline for comments is Friday 20 December.

The new school, and associated community and sporting facilities, are designed to accommodate 1,420 pupils in a fast growing community and will be the biggest in the Highlands.

Incorporated within the new building are mainstream classrooms; extensive Additional Support Needs accommodation; an assembly Hall, library, Gaelic zone; gymnasium/dance studio; community and sports facilities; an outdoor classroom; learning garden and 2 all-weather football pitches, in addition to the existing grass pitches which will be redeveloped as part of this project.

The new school open is programmed to open in August 2016
