Public display of new Torvean plans
New plans for the re-development of Torvean Golf Course, the creation of a sports hub on the existing golf course and an extension to Kilvean Cemetery will be on public display tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Kinmylies Church of Scotland, Inverness.
The public is invited to come along between 10 am and 8 pm and discuss the proposals with representatives of The Highland Council, whose Transport, Environmental and Community Services (TEC Services) are conducting a pre-application consultation on a mixed-use development. This consists of:-
(1) an 18 hole golf course, practice area, and new golf club house;
(2) the formation of a "Sports Hub" comprising sports pitches, fitness trails, car parking, and buildings to accommodate changing/shower facilities;
(3) an extension to the existing Kilvean Cemetery; and
(4) the formation of parkland areas, and ancillary works, all on land at Torvean, Inverness.
An earlier period of consultation on proposals for this area resulted in changes to the application boundary to accommodate the proposals above. The Council has embarked on a further 12-week public consultation and the deadline for comments is 30 September.
It is proposed to seek planning permission for the Sports Hub/Golf Course in mid-November, with the application expected to be determined by March 2014.
