Inverness Fair aims to recruit carers

A recruitment fair aimed at attracting people into the social care sector is to be held in Inverness Town House on Thursday 19th September.  The idea for the event came from the Inverness East District Partnership.

Partnership Chair and NHS Highland Board Member Gillian McCreath commented: “I’m very pleased to see the Partnership’s work coming to fruition on such a critical issue and hope that the event is a great success.”

The Fair aims to tackle recognised difficulty in recruiting people to work as carers.  Highland Councillor Kate Stephen, who initially raised the issue and is opening the event, praised the organisers.  She said: “This event will involve a range of employers and has come about due to the good work of key partner organisations such as Jobcentre Plus, Highland Council, Skills Development Scotland, Inverness College and other Members of Inverness Employability Partnership.”

Councillor Ken Gowans, the Council lead on the District Partnership, said: “‘I’d encourage anyone looking for jobs or training in care to come along to the Fair. It’s an exciting opportunity to find out more from professionals about this rewarding career choice.”
