Leader of new Nairn and Badenoch and Strathspey Area Committee chosen

The Leader of The Highland Council's new Nairn and Badenoch and Strathspey Area Committee is Councillor Liz MacDonald , an SNP member who represents the Nairn Ward.

Councillor MacDonald was elected at the first meeting of the Area Committee held at the Council Chamber in the Court House, Nairn today (10 September).

She said: "I am delighted to be appointed as Leader of the Nairn and Badenoch and Strathspey Area Committee and will share my time between the two areas. The committee will ensure that local scrutiny of council services will be carried out and will be transparent for the public and easy to access. Members will also have greater opportunity to promote and highlight what the council is doing in our communities."

The next meeting of the Nairn and Badenoch and Strathspey Area Committee will be held on Tuesday 10 December 2013.
