Guided bat walk in Grantown-on-Spey

People living in Grantown-on-Spey are invited to start their weekend by joining The Highland Council’s Rangers on a bat walk to discover more about these fascinating nocturnal residents found living in their town.

Did you know that some species of bat use Kylintra as a place to live and find food? Have you ever heard a bat conversation? Do know just how many midges a bat can eat in one night? If the answer is no then, why don’t you come along and find out more?

Saranne Bish, Countryside Ranger for Badenoch & Strathspey North will be running the event which takes place on Friday (27 September) from 7pm – 9pm.  She said: “Kylintra provides lots of places for bats to hang out such as old trees and buildings as well as a good source of night flying insects for them to feed on so hopefully we should be able to spot a few bats on their nightly rounds.”

The evening will comprise of a short talk outside at Kylintra followed by a walk through Anagach Woods and down to the River Spey. Please wear warm clothing and be prepared for inclement weather.

The walk costs £5 for adults and £3 for children and concessions.  All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. To book a place and for further information please telephone 01479 873 914.

The aim of the Highland Council Countryside Rangers is to promote public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and to conserve wildlife.
