Essential maintenance at Muirtown Swing Bridge, Inverness

Scottish Canals are to undertake essential maintenance at Muirtown Swing Bridge (Caledonian Canal Crossing), Inverness,  between Monday 17 and Thursday 27 February  from midnight to 6am daily.

An alternative route for vehicles, using Tomnahurich Swing Bridge, will be signposted. All vehicles, including Emergency Vehicles, will be required to use this route. Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to cross the canal using the lock gates.

The last buses cross the Canal at around 11.45pm and the first ones at around 6.15am.

The closure times have been designed to minimise the impact on public transport provision, and to avoid conflicting with the peak times dispersal of traffic arising from the Kessock Bridge Phase 2 works plus the closure of Bank Street.
