Council supports two Highland projects

Community projects at Foyers and Kyle are being supported by The Highland Council, through significant funding.

At Foyers, the council is buying land and constructing 21 additional car parking spaces at the Falls of Foyers.  The total cost is £120,000.

The proposal formalises bus/coach parking close to the Falls of Foyers and to the nearby Waterfall Café and Foyers Stores.  Pedestrian access along the B852 and to the public toilets will also be improved.

At Kyle, the council is to make a contribution of £64,404 towards the £324,316 project of environmental and access improvements to the Plock of Kyle.

The project will enhance the use of the Plock as a tourist feature, providing new cycle opportunities and avoid traffic through the residential areas of Kyle by providing direct access to the Plock from the A87.

The Plock is held in trust by the Hamilton Park Trustees for the people of Kyle.  It extends to 100 acres and is situated on the outskirts of the village at the access point to the Skye Bridge.

The funding for both projects was confirmed by members of the Council’s Finance Housing and Resources Committee at its meeting today (Wednesday 22 January 2014).
