Traffic warden service to be continued in Inverness
Police Scotland and The Highland Council have agreed to fund the continuation of a traffic warden service in Inverness while the Council works toward the introduction of a decriminalised parking enforcement system in two years time.
The traffic warden service in the Highlands, managed by Police Scotland, was due to end on Monday 3 February.
However, Police Scotland have agreed that the four remaining Highland traffic wardens – 2 based at Inverness, 1 in Tain and 1 in Fort William – will continue working until 28 February.
From this time onward, two posts will be retained in Inverness.
The Council has agreed to maintain its current level of annual support over the next two years to ensure that a warden service can be retained in Inverness until the Council receives approval for a decriminalised parking management scheme.
In the meantime, Police Scotland continues to be responsible for enforcement of parking law throughout the Highlands, and for managing the Inverness traffic warden operations in consultation with the Council.
