At the start of yesterday’s Caithness and Sutherland Area Committee, Leader Councillor Deirdre Mackay welcomed the news that £1.5m is to be invested in enhancing adult social care facilities in North and West Sutherland over the next 4 years.
She said: “This investment is long overdue. The time is right to review the needs locally and to plan well for the future. There is going to be close consultation with the communities to look at the existing provision, seek their views and explore how best to provide services that are sustainable, efficient and effective for the future.
“The integration of the Council’s and NHS Highland Health and Social Care services is now well underway. This is an ideal opportunity to get things right for the north.”
