Highland school pays tribute to former rector
Plockton High School will pay tribute to its former Rector and renowned Gaelic poet Sorley MacLean today (13 June 2014) as it officially names a new building expansion in the school as ‘Togalach Shomhlaire - The Sorley Building’.
Recently retired Rector Duncan Ferguson will perform the honour of unveiling a plaque which names the new building after Sorley MacLean who was Rector of the school from 1956-1972.
The unveiling ceremony is taking place at the 23rd end-of-session prize giving ceremony in the school.
Mrs Susan Galloway, Rector at Plockton High School said: “I would like to thank the local Highland Council members for their efforts to secure this enhancement to our school building which was also supported by the Duncraig Trust. The new build in the centre of the school completed in 2012, provides a large modern dining doom, a new home economics room and separate sewing room as well as additional locker and social space.”
