He said: "The prospect of the Nigg facility being revived is good news for East Ross and good news for the Highlands. I am particularly pleased that the preferred bidder has very strong local credentials whose ambitions mirror the aims of the recently published Inner Moray Firth Ports and Sites Strategy.

"The use of the dry dock at Nigg to repair and maintain rigs is crucial if the Port Authority is to continue to attract business to the area.  It will complement the Port Authority’s highly valued and well established business activity at Invergordon. I have no doubt the business can run effectively from a dual site."
