A890 Stromeferry By-pass partially re-opens
Following Tuesday’s landslip and road closure on the A890 Stromeferry By-pass between Ardnarff and Attadale, work to clear debris has now been completed sufficiently to allow the road to reopen from 07.00 until 19.00 tomorrow (30 October 2014).
Additional road protection has been put in place and the affected slope is being kept under constant supervision.
Until further notice, the road will be open between the hours of 07.00 and 19.00 under traffic management.
It is anticipated that further work will be required in the coming days and this may necessitate further temporary closures.
Emergency services in the South West Ross area remain unaffected by the road closure.
The diversion route whilst the road is closed overnight is A890 Strathcarron to Achnasheen; A832 Achnasheen to Garve; A835 Garve to Tore Roundabout; A9 Tore to Inverness; A82 Inverness to Invermoriston; A887 / A87 Invermoriston to Auchtertyre and vice versa with a total diversion 133 miles.
Due to an unrelated landslip at Garve, rail services on the Inverness – Kyle of Lochalsh line are currently disrupted and for further updates please see the ScotRail website - http://www.journeycheck.com/firstscotrail/
