Balloch pupils have the prize guy.
The winners of the biggest ever Inverness Primary Schools Guy Making Competition were recently awarded their Champions Certificate at a special ceremony at Balloch Primary School held to mark their success.
The Guy created by pupils Korrin Bonnington-Smith P3, Aidan Kelly P1, Cerys Gardner P2/1, Sarah Lambert P1, Liam Cowie P2/1 and Leanne Martinez P3 was judged to be the best by Provost of the City of Inverness, Councillor Alex Graham who had the difficult task of choosing a winner from among the record number of 32 entries which were received on the night.
As well as earning a cheque of £200 towards school funds from sponsors Fergusson Coal, the youngsters have earned the right for Balloch Primary School to be awarded the honour of building the main Guy that will sit on top of the giant bonfire which will be the centre piece of the 2015 display.
Head Teacher Karen Ross said: “We were delighted to hear that a group of our children had been successful in the Inverness Guy Making Competition. A number of our children were at Bught Park when the announcement was made and couldn’t wait to share this news the next day.”
She added: “All our children in Primaries 1, 2 and 3 participated and found the challenge highly motivating. The children worked in mixed aged groups and the excitement and fun they had as they created their guys helped make this a successful activity for all of them.”
