Highland Council Leader welcomes prospect of City Deal for Inverness
The potential of a £300m City Deal was welcomed today 28 January by Leader of the Highland Council, Drew Hendry.
He said: “This is something I have been requesting for several months now and it is pleasing to see reports in the media of a positive response from the Deputy Prime Minister. Inverness has a range of ambitious projects which could be included in such a deal including Inverness Castle, a new museum and gallery and regional sports facility.
“I look forward to receiving official confirmation of this intention and will be asking my officials to follow up with both HM Treasury and Scottish Government. They are already working on a Growth Accelerator Model (GAM) project for Inverness along the same lines as one recently announced between the Scottish Government and City of Edinburgh Council”.
