Event for young people helps transition from school.

An event aimed at young people who are leaving school this summer will take place in Dingwall Academy on Wednesday 18 March 2015 from 9:30am to 3pm.

Organised by The Highland Council’s Care and Learning Service, the “Transitions Fair” builds on the success of a similar event held last year.

The day will be of interest to young people aged 14+ who are:

  • summer leavers without plans or in need of inspiration;
  • young people with additional support needs; or
  • vulnerable or not engaging with school.

The event is also aimed at offering information to those supporting young people in transition, or indeed, any young person who would benefit from this experience.

The drop-in event will centre on key themes to inform young people and their supporters about some of the opportunities and services that exist in Highland, including: education and training; finance; housing; health and social care; and also fun.

The day will offer valuable opportunities to network. There will be a variety of workshops and around 50 interactive stalls (represented by organisations from across the Highlands) throughout the day for people to join.

If you are aged 14 and over and not sure what to do when you leave school, want to find out what your options are then this event is for you. Parents who are supporting young people trying to make decisions are also welcome to join the drop-in event.
