Free maintenance seminar for all Homeowners
Issued on behalf of Inverness City Heritage Trust
On Thursday 23rd November 2006, there will be a free seminar on building maintenance for homeowners in Inverness. The event has been organised by Historic Scotland and Inverness City Heritage Trust as part of National Maintenance week (Nov 17-24), a National event organised by the Society for Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB).
With advice on how to identify and avoid the most common problems, guidance on selecting appropriate traditional materials, an introduction to the consents required and information on funding available for building repair work in the Inverness area, this awareness campaign is designed to give anyone who cares for a property, regardless of its age, practical advice on the best ways to batten down the hatches before winter bites.
Project Officer, Alison Tanner said: “Many problems which affect older properties can be avoided with early detection and regular maintenance. Simple jobs such as the clearing of gutters can be a much cheaper and more convenient option than having to deal with more serious problems such as rot in the future – in fact Friday 24th November is National Gutters Day!”
Tickets are free but spaces are limited – to find out more and to book a place, please contact Inverness City Heritage Trust on 01463 723538
