New completion date for Noss Primary School in Wick
The handover date for the new Noss Primary School in Wick has been put back from December 2015 to the end of March 2016 due to problems experienced during the erection of the timber frame structure.
This news was relayed to members of the stakeholder group for the new Wick schools at a meeting last night. Representatives from Morrison Construction advised that the delay was mainly due to adverse weather conditions experienced earlier this year and the resultant impact on the relatively complex timber frame design.
An assurance was given that every effort would be made to improve on this date if possible. However, it was important to provide a realistic date at this stage to allow the Council to make the necessary adjustments to its plans for the opening of the new school.
When open, Noss Primary school will replace the existing North and Hillhead Primary Schools.
The stakeholders were also advised last night that work is progressing well on the construction of the new Wick Community Campus which will replace Wick High School, Pulteneytown Academy Primary School, South Primary School and the existing community swimming pool and library facilities.
