Have you got the time to care?
“More foster carers are needed across Highland to care for children of all ages, including sibling groups, teenagers and those with a disability or complex health needs.”
…is the message being sent out from Highland Council’s Fostering and Adoption Team during National Foster Care Fortnight (1 to 14 June).
Although fostering can be hard work it can be very rewarding seeing children thrive, gain in confidence and develop into responsible young people.
The assessment and preparation is thorough and extensive training and support from The Highland Council’s Fostering and Adoption Team can equip families, including children of carers, to deal positively with the challenges of fostering.
Councillor Alasdair Christie, Chair of Highland Council’s Education, Children and Adult Services Committee said: “I urge anyone who has ever thought about fostering and would like to find out more to contact our friendly Fostering and Adoption Team for more information. The first step is to phone 01463 703 431 or email: fostering@highland.gov.uk.”
