Council appoints head teacher for Lochaber Gaelic Primary School
The new head teacher of Lochaber Gaelic Primary School, Fort William, is Mr John Joe MacNeil.
He takes up post in August 2015 at the start of term in the new dedicated Gaelic Primary School at Ardgour Road in Caol which is currently under construction. The new school is due to open in August.
Robertson Construction Northern is building the new school which will also have community facilities. The school will have four classrooms initially with the capacity to be extended by up to a further four classrooms if required.
Mr MacNeil currently teaches at Rockfield Primary School in Oban and prior to that taught in Mount Cameron Primary School, East Kilbride. Mr MacNeil originally comes from Barra and had a range of experiences of hotel and banking management and in accounting prior to entering teaching.
Mr MacNeil said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Head Teacher of Bun Sgoil Ghàidhlig Loch Abar. I am very much looking forward to working with pupils, staff, parents and the wider community as we move forward together into our fantastic new community school.
Parent Council Chairperson, Alister Macleod said: "We are delighted with the appointment of John Joe as head teacher for our new school. The children and the community will benefit greatly from his skills and enthusiasm. We look forward to working with him and supporting him in his role."
