Locals urged to support Wick and Pulteneytown CCTV

Following the CCTV community consultation held in July 2006 and the overwhelming response from the public for CCTV in Wick and Pulteneytown, a CCTV sub-group has been established by the Caithness Safety Action Team to progress the extension of CCTV.

A CCTV system will bring many benefits, mainly reduced crime, reduced vandalism and increased feelings of safety and security among the community. Local groups have been approached for letters endorsing the scheme.

Jean Boyle, Highland Council’s Caithness Project Officer (on behalf of the CCTV Group) said: “I would like to thank the local businesses, schools and community groups who have responded giving their support. We are currently applying for grants and would welcome any additional letters of support, within the next fortnight, to strengthen the case even further.”
