Highland Harvest at Farr

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are inviting families outdoors for some foraging fun and to join in their Highland Harvest event which will take place at Farr, outside Inverness, on Saturday 5 September.

The event is family friendly and offers a beginner’s introduction to the fascinating world of wild foods.

Katy Martin, Inverness Ranger said: “Wild foods are all around us and have many benefits.  We will be searching for berries and fungi, and hopefully finding a few to try.  There will be a chance to learn about how essential these wild foods are to wildlife and to the health of the woodland. The event is family friendly, most suitable for families with children aged between 4-10years but fun for all ages.”

This event starts at 2pm and lasts for 2 hours. Places are strictly limited so should be booked in advance by giving Katy a call on 01463 255291 or e-mailing rangers.inverness@highland.gov.uk. Details of where to meet up will be given out on booking.

This event costs £4 adults, £3 concessions. Family tickets are available, costing £11 or £7.

The Countryside Rangers run many events and guided walks which aim to help raise awareness and encourage appreciation of the scenery, wildlife and heritage of the Highlands. A programme of Ranger Guided Walks and Events is on the council’s website at: www.highland.gov.uk/countrysiderangerevents
