Drivers urged to go slow at Millburn Academy

Motorists travelling on Diriebught Road in Inverness are being warned that part time 20mph speed restrictions will be introduced at Millburn Academy, for children’s safety.

The new speed limits will come into force from Wednesday 4th October, 2006. This addition brings the total number of schools benefiting from new speed limits in Inverness area to 20 and in Highland to 78 at present.

Motorists are reminded that if they speed in the vicinity of Highland schools then the penalties will be tough. The Highland Council, Northern Constabulary and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (Highlands and Islands Area) are clear that if motorists are caught speeding near Highland schools where a 20mph limit is in place, then robust enforcement action will be taken by both the Police and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.

The new 20mph speed limits will the come into affect Mondays to Fridays during school term times at Millburn Academy from: 08:20 to 08:40; 12:30 to 13:30; and 15:30 to 15:45.

The other schools in Inverness Area with 20mph speed restrictions are: Ardersier, Balloch, Beauly, Cannich Bridge, Cauldeen, Cradlehall, Dalneigh, Drakies, Duncan Forbes, Hilton, Kinmylies, Merkinch, Muirtown and Tomnacross Primaries; Drummond School and Charleston, Culloden and Inverness Royal Academies, and Inverness High.
