Performers to enter Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame announced

Hands Up for Trad are very pleased to announce the 2015 performer inductees to the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame. They represent some of the amazing performers that have contributed to and taken Scottish music to where we are today.

The inductees are:

• Ossian
• The Singing Kettle
• Seonaidh Macmillan
• Maureen Jelks
• Violet Tulloch
• Willie Scott
• Matt McGinn
• G.S. McLennan
• Angus Fitchet
• Iain Mackintosh

Chair of The Highland Council's Gaelic Implementation Group, Councillor Hamish Fraser said: “It is a delight to host the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame event in Inverness especially as so many fantastic singers and musicians come from communities across the Highlands. This prestigious event is dedicated to giving acknowledgement and recognition to singers, musicians and people within the industry, their commitment, dedication and hard work, have supported, influenced, and encouraged the development of Scottish traditional music during their lives. I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone that is being inducted into the Music Hall of Fame, and wish you all the very best it is very much deserved.”

Hands Up for Trad are also announcing that the Hamish Henderson Services to Scottish Traditional Music Award will be presented to storyteller, writer, educator and activist Ewan McVicar.

The Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame is dedicated to giving acknowledgement and recognition to musicians and industry people who, by their dedication and hard work, have supported and influenced the development of Scottish traditional music during their lives.
