Inverness Members endorse Muirtown and South Kessock development brief
Members of The Highland Council’s City of Inverness and Area Committee have endorsed a final planning Development Brief for the Muirtown and South Kessock area of Inverness.
The Development Brief has been prepared to guide future development in the area and to assist the Council, partners and community interests in making bids for funding to help regenerate the wider brief area.
The Development Brief was approved at the City of Inverness Area Committee on 10 September 2015 and will now be referred to the Council’s Planning, Development and Infrastructure Committee for consideration to adopt it as statutory Supplementary Guidance to the Highland-wide Local Development Plan.
A range of strategic projects have been identified in the Development Brief focusing on Clachnaharry, South Kessock, the local nature reserve, Muirtown, Merkinch and Muirtown Basin.
Provost and Leader of City of Inverness and Area Councillor Helen Carmichael said: “This is a first class development brief into which a huge amount of work and effort has been made by Council staff, local Members and the community who have all engaged extensively and productively in the public consultations. I would like to thank everyone involved.”
