Volunteer day at Anagach Woods, Grantown-on-Spey
Highland Council Countryside Rangers are inviting families and individuals outdoors for some volunteering fun and to join in with a new volunteer programme working in the woods for the benefit of everyone on Sunday 27 September.
Saranne Bish, Highland Council’s Countryside Ranger said: “Anagach Woods is fantastic as it is a community owned woodland. But as with all things requires active management to keep it in tip-top condition for all concerned.
“It is constantly in need of some tender love and care. Paths need cutting back and holes filled in. Fences mended and non-natives felled. This is why the Anagach Woods Trust has agreed that the last Sunday of the month is volunteer day in the woods.”
She added: “Working outdoors is so good for your health! You’ll not only be contributing to a fabulous community resource but also getting fit, breathing in all that fresh air and rejuvenating your soul!”
This work party will meet at the Forest Road entrance to Anagach Woods and starts at 1pm and lasts for 3 hours. Tools are provided. Free kindling for those who do some work!
The Countryside Rangers run many events and guided walks which aim to help raise awareness and encourage appreciation of the scenery, wildlife and heritage of the Highlands. A programme of Ranger Guided Walks and Events is on the council’s website at: www.highland.gov.uk/countrysiderangerevents
