Calling all spooky spider fans

A Halloween event with a difference is happening at Abriachan at the end of the month with The Highland Council Rangers hosting an outdoor animal themed evening of fun and games in the woods. They’ll be having a look at the real stars of Halloween and demystifying some of the more terrifying tales about all the animals associated with this spooky time of year.

Taking place on Thursday 29th October from 5.50pm to 8.00pm, there will be lots of fun and games based in the location of the Abriachan Forest Trust outdoor classroom.

Ranger Liz Chapman, who will be leading the evening’s events, feels like some of our most fascinating creatures get a bit of bad press due to their association with Hallowe’en spookiness. She said: “Halloween is a really fun time and we’ve planned lots of thrilling activities for the evening. It would be great if some people who quiver at the thought of spiders, bats or moths come along and we manage to show them how fascinating, and not terrifying, these creatures are.”

Participants are asked to come along to the Abriachan Forest Trust Outdoor Classroom NH 540353 for 5.50pm and to bring a torch. Anyone coming is welcome to come in fancy dress. The event prices are Adults £4.00, conc. £3.00, family £11.00.
