Successful local mini- tour for Ross-shire Pipes and Drums School
The Ross and Cromarty Pipes and Drums School rounded off their successful competing season with a three night mini tour of Ross-shire last week featuring performances in Tain, Invergordon and Dingwall.
The concerts were an outstanding success and the band was delighted at the level of community support at every venue.
Pipe Major Niall Matheson and Drum Major Drew Caldwell were delighted at the results of their work with both the main band and also the Development band – many of whom hadn’t performed in public before.
The band members are all tutored via The Highland Councils’ Instrumental Tuition Service and are certainly a credit to the hard work and dedication of all who support their efforts.
The programme covered the whole range of Highland pipe music. A few of the sets were given a 21st century twist, and all were carefully arranged to showcase the bands talent.
The band was pleased to involve the Marion Munro School of Dancing and special guest bands Gizzenbriggs (Tain); ShortBreed (Invergordon) and the Strathpeffer and District Pipe Band (Dingwall).
Thanks to the generosity of the appreciative audiences, local businesses, Highland Council, parents and tutors, the bands efforts enabled a sizeable donation being made to MFR Cash for Kids charity and a contribution towards the funds needed for the 2016 competition season.
