Flooding - Highland
The Easter Ross part of Ross and Cromarty and the North Black Isle are the areas reported as currently worse affected by heavy rainfall and flooding today (Tuesday, 24 October 2006).
On the Black Isle, the B9163 road from Culbokie, Cullicudden, Newhall, Gordon’s Mill, Jemmimaville, Shore Mill to Cromarty is affected by flooding and landslips. Reports this morning, at Newhall were of 2-3 feet of water on the road and stranded vehicles.
Newhall Primary and Cullicudden Primary schools are closed due to road flooding. Fifty six pupils attend Newhall and twenty five attend Cullicudden Primary.
Other affected areas are between Dingwall and Alness, especially around Evanton. Properties in Novar Crescent and Fyrish Crescent in Evanton have been affected by run-off flood water from surrounding fields and The Highland Council’s TEC Services is attending the worst affected properties in Evanton and supplying sandbags. The Council is co-operating with local landowners to address the run-off problems.
There is also localised flooding in Dingwall.
