City roads temporarily closed this weekend for half marathon

The 2016 Inverness Half Marathon and Fun Run takes place on Sunday 13 March and the Council is advising drivers that temporary traffic restrictions will be in place in and around the city during the event.

The following routes will be affected:

  • Bught Avenue, Inverness, closed to traffic at its con-junction with Bught Drive to its junction with Bught Road, between 12 noon - 15:30  

  • Bught Road, Inverness, closed to eastbound traffic at its junction with Bught Avenue to its junction with Bught Lane, between 12 noon - 15:30. Vehicular access for westbound traffic will be maintained at all times.

  • Bught Road, Inverness, closed at its junction with Bught Avenue to its con-junction with Ness Walk Upper, between 10:30-15:30;

  • Ness Walk Upper, Inverness, closed at its con-junction with Bught Road to its junction with Bishop’s Road, between 10:30 - 15:30;

  • Bishop’s Road, Inverness, closed to southbound traffic between its junction with Ness Walk and its junction with Ardross Terrace from 12.15 - 15.00;

  • Castle Road, Inverness, closed to northbound traffic, from its junction with Haugh Road to its junction with Bridge Street, between 11:30 - 15:00;

  • Ness Bank and Cavell Gardens Road, Inverness, closed to through traffic between its junction with Castle Road and its junction with Island Bank Road, between 11:30- 15:00. Access to local properties will be maintained, from the junction with Castle Road.

  • B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores - Inverness Road closed to northbound traffic, from its junction with Holm roundabout to its junction with the Ness Bank and Cavell Gardens Road, between 11:30–15:00. Vehicle access for southbound traffic will be maintained at all times.

Drivers should be aware that alternative routes will be available and clearly sign-posted.  Pedestrian access and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the event.
