Council to support N5 Drama course

Highland Council has listened to public feedback on Eden Court’s decision to cease running the SQA National Five Drama course.
The council is to provide £11,500 towards the running of this course for the financial year 2016/17 from the Council’s Care and Learning Services budget.
Budget Leader Cllr Bill Fernie said: “Following negotiations with Eden Court, we feel that the course is important for some of our young people and we have agreed to fund the course for National 5 Drama.”
Chair of the Council’s Education, Children and Adult Services Committee Cllr Drew Millar added: “We recognise that for those pupils wishing to follow careers in drama, this course is a stepping stone that may lead to further opportunities in colleges and universities. For that reason we are supporting this for the 2016/17 year.”
Colin Marr, Chief Executive Eden Court: "We welcome the decision by Highland Council to fund Eden Court to deliver SQA National 5 for the coming year. We are delighted to be able to reinstate this course to sit alongside Higher Drama and Higher Dance."
