Rock Challenge strikes a chord with Highland schools
A packed Eden Court celebrated wonderful Rock Challenge performances last night (19 April) from Grantown Grammar School, Alness Academy, Culloden Academy, Dingwall Academy, Inverness High School, Nairn Academy and Wick High School.
Bill Alexander, Highland Council’s Director of Care and Learning said: “The young people were inspiring, and the quality was tremendous – evidencing the months of work that pupils, staff, parents and volunteers have put into their performances.
“Culloden Academy came third, Dingwall Academy was second and Alness Academy came first, but the judges found it really difficult to separate the schools – and all were winners of various awards on the night.”
Mr Alexander added: “It is the Primary Schools competition this evening (20 April), and more Secondary Schools on Thursday, meaning over 1,000 pupils and 20 schools will perform to three large audiences this week – a great success! Thanks to everyone who has been involved, and there are a few tickets remaining for parents, friends and others who wish to attend tonight or tomorrow.”
