Halloween Event attracts huge following

The Ness Islands were transformed into an 'Island of Nightmares' on Saturday night  as part of The Highland Council Rangers Halloween Happening event.

Almost 300 people booked on for a spooky walk round the islands, led by a ghostly guide.

On route, the groups met various characters and scenes including: the Vault prisoner who was eaten alive by rats in the Ness Bridge jail; the fairies of the Tomnahurich hill; Janet Horne the last person in Scotland to be burned alive as a witch; ghost dancers; ghostly Fever Hospital patients; the Devil Dog; the headless man and a gruesome gatekeeper.

Highland Council’s Senior Ranger for Inverness and Nairn, Katy Martin said: “It was a great success and many thanks go out to all 70 participants, including the Eden Court Outreach Drama and Dance groups and to the many people who helped it happen including the Forestry Commission Fort Augustus and The Highland Council TEC Services lighting team.

Next year the event will be run by Eden Court.
