Parents had the opportunity to speak to the Council’s Community Learning and Development Officer and teachers of Bun-sgoil Shlèite about Gaelic Medium Education. They also were able to pick up CD’s, books and leaflets and get information on specific websites featuring preschool Gaelic activities, as well as look at literacy and numeracy resources that used within the early years.

Refreshments and home baking were provided on the day by Bun-sgoil Shlèite Parent Council.

Council Hamish Fraser, Chair of the Gaelic Implementation Group said: “Gaelic Open Days are important as they give parents the opportunity to see the resources which are available and also show the support which the Council and other agencies provide in relation to Gaelic Education.”

Mrs Angela MacGillivary, a parent who has a child in the Bun-sgoil Shlèite and a child in the Gaelic Nursery said: "It was great to see so many families, and the kids really enjoyed the day. Events like these are so important in providing up-to-date information about Gaelic-medium education, the resources available and all its benefits. It was also great to enjoy a day like this where Gaelic was being spoken by young and old alike."
