Sutherland issues under spotlight next week
The Sutherland District Health and Social Care Partnership meets on Friday 27th May, 10am, in The Chamber, Highland Council Offices, Drummuie, Golspie.
Issues to be discussed include an input from Helen Houston of Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust in relation to Community Empowerment and Localism in Sutherland, as well as a presentation from Stephen Pennington of Highland Home Carers. There will also be a number of items relating to Early Years and Young People and Older Adults. Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service will also give updates in relation to ongoing Community Safety issues in Sutherland including the recent wild fire.
Councillor Deirdre Mackay Chair of Sutherland District Partnership said: “As usual we have a very busy agenda which addresses a range of challenges facing Sutherland at this particular time. I am particularly looking forward to getting to the bottom of why there are insufficient places on construction and engineering courses for our local youngsters. We have the numbers coming through our local secondary schools but these are not matched by opportunity. We need a commitment to ensure that our youngsters have the opportunities they deserve to pursue the skills which are in demand across the country and indeed the world.”
