Council Ranger leads on Night Walks in Strathspey

Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers have organised two guided walks with associated activities looking at the wildlife that lives in the woods of Milton wood, Aviemore and Anagach Woods in Grantown-on-Spey.

Suitable for both adults and children the events take place on; Friday 8th September from 7pm to 9pm meeting at the path sign opposite Dalfaber Drive on the main Aviemore Road and on Saturday 9th September again 7pm to 9pm meeting at Forest road, anagacg Woods, Grantown-on-Spey.

Countryside Ranger Saranne Bish said: “Come along and see the woods through the eyes of the creatures that walk and fly through the woods at night”

“There is a whole different world out there at night, from bats to moths to owls or whatever we find! We will play some activities to get us to understand a wee bit about some of these wonderful creatures and then walk through the woods quietly to see if we can see any of them. Make sure though that you bring warm clothes, midge repellent and a torch!”

The Night Walks are part of a programme of guided walks and events organised by Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers throughout the Highlands. Copies of the programmes can be found on the Council’s website or by telephoning: 01479873 914.

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are a partnership between The Highland Council and Scottish Natural Heritage with the aim of promoting public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and conserving wildlife.
