Wind farm company gives advance notice of possible traffic delays

EDF Energy Renewables, owners of the Corriemoillie Wind Farm west of Garve, are warning road users in advance of possible traffic delays over the summer.
Turbine components for the wind farm at Aultguish are due to start arriving on site in the week beginning 11th July. Turbine blades and steel tower sections are being transported from the port at Invergordon, with nacelles and hubs being transported from Hull via Perth. All deliveries will be accompanied by a police escort.
EDF Energy Renewables Project Manager Andrew Russell said: “Our main priority is to cause as little disruption to road users as possible. We use a specialist haulage company with extensive experience in transporting very large loads like these turbine parts. We have already carried out two trial runs which went smoothly.”
Deliveries from Invergordon will be leaving the port at approximately 9.15 am each day and will take up to 3 hours to reach the site. Deliveries from Hull will leave Perth after a stop period around 9am and will take approximately 5 hours to reach Aultguish.
All deliveries will travel on the A9 from both Perth and Invergordon to Tore Roundabout, and then on the A835 from Tore to Aultguish. Deliveries from Invergordon are expected to incorporate a convoy of three abnormal loads, with single vehicle convoys expected from Perth. Deliveries are expected to be made on selected days between Monday to Saturday until the end of August.

Contractors RJ McLeod started preparatory work on the 17 turbine wind farm at the end of September last year and have been constructing turbine foundations, access roads and the on-site sub-station. The wind farm is due to be complete and generating electricity in early 2017.
