Highland Maths Challenge Champions

Congratulations to pupils, Kay and Ella Christian, Ben Gregg and Alastair Tait of Ardnamurchan High School  for bringing home the Maths Challenge Quaich after a thrilling competition held at Milburn Academy in Inverness on Thursday 8th September.  

Thirteen secondary schools from across the Highlands participated  and Ardnamurchan held a strong position throughout the morning’s challenges,  breaking for lunch at 3rd equal position.  The afternoon saw 4 pupils from S3 and S4, battle their way into poll position, winning first place after the fiercely fought relay round. 
The school's Maths teacher, Mr Aitken said “This is a  fantastic achievement for the pupils to top a list comprising of some much larger schools. I am sure they will hold their own in the prestigious Scottish National final where they will compete against the top private and state schools in Scotland at Glasgow Science Centre in November 2016.” 
The event is organized by the Scottish Mathematical Council and sponsored by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries
