Scottish Executive Additional Capital for Schools

The Highland Council today (Fri 8th Sept) welcomed Education Minister Peter Peacock’s announcement of £30million extra funding for school building improvement of which £1.344million will benefit schools in the Highlands.

Chairman of The Highland Council’s Education, Culture and Sport Committee, Councillor Andrew Anderson said: “Any extra money is welcome and especially if we can use it to keep our 21st Century schools up to speed with the latest technology.”

Bruce Robertson, Highland Council’s Director of Education, Culture and Sport Service said: “I am delighted with the additional funding announcement by the Scottish Executive. Every school in Highland will benefit from it.

“It will be particularly helpful for energy efficiency measures and the roll out of broadband and the New Scottish Schools Digital Network which does require some investment in every school in the area.”
