Dalwhinnie Primary school to close
The Highland Council welcomes the confirmation from the Scottish Government today (2 November2016) that the Council’s decision to close Dalwhinnie Primary School has not been called in by Ministers.
The school has been mothballed since the end of session 2011/12, with pupils attending either Newtonmore or Gergask Primary Schools.
Following the closure of Dalwhinnie, its catchment area will be assigned to Newtonmore Primary.
Highland Councillor Drew Millar, Chairman of the Council’s Education, Children and Adult Services Committee said:
“This confirmation is welcome and provides clarity to the local community. During the public consultation there was a recognition that the closure of Dalwhinnie was in the best interests of the local children.”
