A Helping Hand for Hilton is a Participatory Budgeting process that lets communities decide how money is spent in their local area. The Participatory Budgeting process involves giving local people a role in delivering priorities in their area and in ensuring public money is well spent.

If you have an idea that will benefit the Hilton area of Inverness and need £100 - £700 to put your ideas into action then “A Helping Hand for Hilton” is your chance to get the support you need

In total £7,000 is available for grants up to £700. £5,000 has been allocated by Inverness Ness-side Councillors, £1,000 from the Hilton, Milton and Castle Heather Community Council and £1,000 from the Management Committee of the Hilton Community Centre.

The local ward councillors say: “Participatory Budgeting is about local people making decisions directly over how local public budgets are spent.

“We would encourage all those eligible to apply to this new grant fund, participatory budgeting has a proven track record of increasing levels of engagement and empowerment in a range of community settings, so we are excited that we are trialling it in the Hilton area.”

Groups in the Hilton area of Inverness have been urged to come forwards with ideas and projects. Eligible groups will the present their idea at a community event on 11 March. Local people in the Hilton area will be invited to come along to the event to hear about the projects and vote for the ideas they think should be funded.

Any local community, voluntary or non-profit group can apply; projects can be large or small the only criteria is that projects should aim to improve the local community.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 31 January

To apply for the funding you must return this form before 5pm Tuesday 31st January 2017.  If your idea fits, the public will get to vote for their favourite ideas at an event on Saturday 11th March 2017, 10:30am – 1:00pm.
