A reminder for ‘Nurturing Nairnshire’
Groups planning to apply for a grant from the ‘Nurturing Nairnshire’ participatory budgeting (PB) fund are reminded that the deadline for applications is fast approaching.
Building on the success of the Nurturing Nairnshire event held in March 2016, the Nairn Ward Councillors have again agreed to support the PB process for Nairnshire. PB is a process that lets the local community decide for themselves which community projects are needed in their area.
In total there is £20,000 available for projects and all applications have to be submitted before 5pm on Thursday 9th February 2017.
Grants can be applied for from £200 to £2000 and if an idea fits, details of projects could be published online and the community asked to shortlist applications using a new online tool. More details after the deadline.
The best ideas will then be taken forward to the event on Saturday 4th March 2017 at the Community and Arts Centre in Nairn which starts at 10am.
At the event, which is open to all, groups will present their ideas to the community.
Anyone who would like to help to decide is invited to come along and vote for their favourite projects. Those in attendance vote on all the applications and decisions are made on the day.
A video of last year’s decision event is available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUO6sqatn_U
The fund is open to any local community, voluntary or non-profit organisations based in Nairnshire. Projects can be large or small, add value to existing projects or be something completely new.
