Universal Credit (UC)
Universal Credit is calculated on your personal circumstances. As your employer, we do not know how, or if, you may be affected. The DWP has confirmed that any backdated pay award would be applicable in the UC assessment period that the award is made.
Where this results in a nil award of UC for that assessment period due to the backdated pay, anyone in receipt of UC doesn’t need to take any action as their claim will automatically be assessed in the following assessment period based on their new wage/pay.
Depending on the individual circumstances, some employees may retain a proportion of their UC award. If any colleague has concerns regarding their UC assessment, they should immediately put a message on their UC journal so that their UC work coach can look into the matter.
You can access your UC Journal at www.gov.uk/sign-in-universal-credit
An overview of Universal Credit can be found at www.gov.uk/universal-credit
If you have any queries regarding this communication please email the HR mailbox hr@highland.gov.uk . Please note staff will not be able to provide queries on estimated pay calculations.
Please circulate to colleagues who may not have access to staff connections or email.
