Petroleum Storage Certificate -
Description
The Petroleum (Consolidation) Regulations 2014 require the owner of dispensing premises where petrol is kept to hold a Petroleum Storage Certificate.
You are giving us your personal information to allow us to assess the suitability of the applicant and the relevant premises for the holding of a certificate to store petroleum. We also use your information to verify your identity where required, contact you by post, email or telephone and to maintain our records. We provide these services to you as part of our statutory function as your local authority. Processing your personal information is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest by the council. Where fees are payable, payments are taken through an online form on our website or by phoning or attending our Service Centre.

If you don’t provide all of the personal information which is requested we will be unable to process or determine your application and it will be returned to you.

Conditions for processing personal information
Legal obligation: the Council has a legal obligation under the petroleum legislation to administer this function, as the Petroleum Enforcement Authority, in the Highland area. If you wish to hold a certificate, the Council needs to process your personal information in order to fulfil this legal obligation.

Who we share your information with
Your information will be shared with Police Scotland and any relevant Council services who may require to inspect your premises, site, vehicle or trailer.
Where premises (including temporary structures) are involved, your information will also be shared with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service who may carry out an inspection.
Your information may also be shared with the Home Secretary, where we are required to check your right to work in the UK.
Some of your information will also appear on the public register of licences which the Council maintains. Your information may also be shared with any person submitting a complaint, objection or representation.

How long we hold your information
Your information will be held for 5 years after you cease to hold a licence or, in the case of refusal of a licence application, 5 years from the date of the refusal.

Your personal information is not subject to automated decision making or profiling.
