Annual Leave Arrangements

The Highland Council is committed to enabling employees to take time off for holidays, emergencies, medical appointments or other important business, wherever possible.

Annual Leave
Employees have an entitlement to 28 days (including 7 floating Public Holidays) per leave year, rising to 33 days (including 7 floating Public Holidays) per leave year after 5 years continuous service at the start of the leave year.  Provision will be pro rata for part time staff

Public Holidays
Employees have an entitlement to 7 fixed public holidays per leave year, this is in addition to the 7 floating public holidays which are included in your annual leave entitlement.

Special Leave 
There are occasions when employees may be looking for additional leave to cover events such as bereavement, public duties, jury service, etc.

Parental Leave and Time Off for Dependants
Parental leave and time off for dependants is available to eligible employees who are concerned with the care of dependants.
